A BEST, hi ha dos tipus de classes.

Per aquells a qui interessa més viatjar i comunicar-se amb la gent, fem classes de conversa, on agafem un tema (d’internet, de la televisió, de la premsa i d’altres fonts mediàtiques anglòfones) i el discutim. Si hi ha un punt de gràmatica que cal ampliar, ens aturem per fer-ho, però l’èmfasi és sempre en parlar un anglès clar i fluent.

L’altre tipus de classe que oferim segueix un llibre de curs per estructurar el procés d'aprenentatge i tracta tant la gràmatica i l’ús de la llengua com la comprensió i l’expressió oral. Aquestes classes són pensades per a principiants o per a aquells que es volen examinar. Tanmateix, l'èmfasi a classe és a aprendre anglès i a utilitzar-lo per comunicar-se, més que no pas a seguir com robots els exercicis d’un llibre. At BEST there are two kinds of class.

For people who want to use English for travelling and communicating, we provide conversation classes in which we take a topic (from the internet, television, press, and other English-speaking media sources) and talk about it. If a point of grammar needs exploring, we pause to examine that one area, but the focus of the classes is always on speaking English clearly and fluently.

The other type of class that we offer follows a course book as a guide and concentrates equally on grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening. These classes are designed for beginners and for people hoping to take examinations. Nevertheless, the emphasis in class is on learning English and using English to communicate, rather than on mindlessly following the exercises in the book. (You could do that at home, if you really wanted to, couldn’t you?)

Públic: el curs està pensat per a estudiants que no han fet mai anglès o que tenen un nivell tan baix que s’estimen més començar des de zero.

Objectius: millorar els coneixements d’anglès, tant escrits com orals, reforçar la gràmatica i la morfosintaxi, augmentar el vocabulari i facilitar la fluïdesa.

Metodologia: en grups de 4 a 8 estudiants, a cura d’una professora anglesa nadiua, seguirem el llibre de curs, ampliant-lo amb matèries extretes d’altres llibres, d’internet, de la televisió, de la premsa i d’altres fonts mediàtiques anglòfones.

Contingut:
temes: salutacions, abecedari, nombres i dates, família, escola i feina, passatemps, viatges, compres, restaurants.
gramàtica: present simple (afirmacions, negacions i preguntes), passat simple (afirmacions, negacions i preguntes), can/can’t, present continu, adjectius, adverbis, preposicions.

Activitats suplementàries: animem els estudiants a llegir i escoltar materials anglesos autèntics (llibres abreujats, CD, etc.), dins i fora de classe, i els donem l’ajuda necessària per a fer-ho; també posem deures cada setmana, però sempre són opcionals.

Públic: el curs està pensat per a estudiants que tenen alguns coneixements d’anglès i els volen ampliar, tan per motius professionals com particulars.

Objectius: millorar els coneixements d’anglès, tant escrits com orals, reforçar la gràmatica i la morfosintaxi, augmentar el vocabulari i facilitar la fluïdesa.

Metodologia: en grups de 4 a 8 estudiants, a cura d’una professora anglesa nadiua, seguirem el llibre de curs, ampliant-lo amb matèries extretes d’altres llibres, d’internet, de la televisió, de la premsa i d’altres fonts mediàtiques anglòfones.

Contingut:
temes: nombres, abecedari, salutacions, família, casa, hores, el temps, salut, escola i feina, viatges, hotels i restaurants.
gramàtica: present simple, passat simple, present continu, going to, will, present perfet, verbs modals, adjectius, possesius, adverbis, preposicions, substantius comptables i incomptables.

Activitats suplementàries: animem els estudiants a llegir i escoltar materials anglesos autèntics (llibres abreujats, CD, etc.), dins i fora de classe, i els donem l’ajuda necessària per a fer-ho; també posem deures cada setmana, però sempre són opcionals

Públic: el curs està pensat per a estudiants que han acabat el el PET de Cambridge o el Nivell 3 de l’ Escola Oficial d’Idiomes, o bé per als que volen cursar-los, o també per a aquells que, senzillament, volen aprendre anglès per motius particulars.

Objectius: millorar els coneixements d’anglès, tant escrits com orals, reforçar la gràmatica i la morfosintaxi, augmentar el vocabulari i facilitar la fluïdesa.

Metodologia: en grups de 4 a 8 estudiants, a cura d’una professora anglesa nadiua, seguirem el llibre de curs, ampliant-lo amb matèries extretes d’altres llibres, d’internet, de la televisió, de la premsa i d’altres fonts mediàtiques anglòfones.

Contingut:
temes: família, escola i feina, viatges, hotels i restaurants, tecnologia, esports i passatemps, actualitat, vida i cultura en països angloparlants, qualsevol tema d’interès especial per al grup.
gramàtica: present simple, passat simple, used to, present continu, going to, will, present perfet, verbs modals, veu passiva, adjectius, comparatius i superlatius, relatius, adverbis, preposicions, substantius comptables i incomptables.

Activitats suplementàries: animem els estudiants a llegir i escoltar materials anglesos autèntics (diaris, llibres abreujats, CD, etc.), dins i fora de classe, i els donem l’ajuda necessària per a fer-ho; també posem deures cada setmana, però sempre són opcionals.

Target audience: the course is aimed at students who have completed or are studying for either the Cambridge First Certificate examination or Level 4/5 of the Escola Oficial d’Idiomes, or for those who simply wish to maintain a good level of conversational English.

Objectives: to improve oral communication skills, reinforce grammatical structures, and increase knowledge of syntax, vocabulary, and linguistic expression.

Methodology: discussion groups of 4 to 8 students, supervised by a qualified native English speaker, using materials drawn from TV, newspaper, internet, and other media sources.

Content: current affairs, leisure interests, British and American life and culture, any subjects specially requested by the students.

Supplementary activities: students are encouraged to read and listen to authentic English materials (newspapers, books, radio broadcasts, CDs) in their own time and are given the necessary guidance to do so; there is a weekly option to create a piece of writing which will be assessed and discussed out of class-time; students are also invited to attend complementary lectures and talks given by native English speakers on a variety of up-to-date subjects.
